Bala caught in an image trap
February 15th, 2009
Generally the Kollywood pundits try to limit Bala's films by branding them under the category of parallel cinema and declaring them unfit for commercial definitions.
But Bala, the maker of 4 consecutive outstanding films in Tamil has strongly objected to this by saying that all his films are commercial as well as classics.
"I don't like the traditional meaning given to the word commercial," he says, "After all, it's a film at the end of the day!"
After Naan Kadavul?
"Sometimes, I wish I could do a love story," he says, "I think I'm in an image trap right now with all my films portraying 'the other world'. So, I guess I'll have to take the plunge into 'commercial cinema' soon. I'd also like to include more dance sequences in my films in future," Bala commented sarcastically.
Bala also has a dream project, and that's a historical subject. "It'll probably take three years to script and another three years to film," he smiles.
