After the fabulous Oscar night and the Governor’s ball, it is a Kollywood bash for A R Rahman.A grand red carpet welcome is due for the Mozart of Madras when he lands in Chennai airport on February 28th. Industry veterans Ilayaraja, Jesudas, K Balachander and S.P. Balasubramaniam are likely to be present in this mega event arranged to honour the maestro.While a reception is arranged for the maestro at the airport on February 28th, a gala event will take place on March 1st to felicitate the ’Jai Ho’ man. Industry sources say that music directors M.S. Viswanathan, Ilayaraja and singers SPB and Jesudas would participate in the event and felicitate the man who made India proud at the Oscars. A.R. Rahman created history at the Oscars by becoming the first Indian to win 2 Oscars and perform on stage at the Academy event.
His Oscars are for the Best Original Score and the Best Original Song (’Jai Ho’) for Slumdog Millionaire, the top dog at the 81st Academy Awards, with 8 Oscars, including Best Director and Best Picture categories. After Rahman’s achievement at the Oscars, India is eagerly waiting for him to return home. With Kollywood and Bollywood gearing up to welcome India’s Oscar man, Rahman is sure to have a whale of a time back home.
