Chennai, May 13: Kamal Hassan, the Tamil actor's name is missing from the voters list in Chennai. The actor who was shooting in Hyderabad, was preparing to leave for Chennai to caste his vote on Tuesday, May 12 when he came to know that his name was missing.
"This is the first time I am being denied my right to vote. They wax eloquent that every farmer on the field, every cobbler on the street should vote, but see... I've been denied my voting right. I am losing more than Rs 10 lakh by being away from shooting. I was particular that I should vote this time," said the furious actor to media.
He added that though he informed the concerned officials, no action were taken. Rajesh Lakhoni, the corporate commissioner and district electoral officer said that Kamal's name was not included in the list as his house on Luz Church Road of Chennai has been rented out as a godown.
"Kamal is on the VIP list, but his name was deleted more than two years ago. According to our records, he is not a resident of the city." The officer added that election officials were helpless in such a situation when the person was not available for enumeration at the given residential address.
