The story of the Karthi and Tamanna starrer ‘Paiyaa’, directed by Lingusamy, is out in the open. It is a story set in the backdrop of the National Highway linking Mumbai with Bangalore and promises to be a thriller.The film, is loosely based on the Hollywood film ‘Hitcher’ and is about a couple who falls victim to a psychotic man while travelling on a highway.
'Road' (2002), produced by Ram Gopal Varma and directed by Rajat Mukherjee, handled a similar theme. The couple, played by Vivek Oberoi and Antara Mali, are deceived by a smooth talking gangster (Manoj Bajpai) into giving him a lift and their lives are changed for ever!
