Ghajini’s record-break opening with Rs.35Crores

December 29th, 2008

Not very often does it happen in Indian Film Industry, even for Rajnikanth’s ‘Sivaji – The Boss’… Aamir Khan’s ‘Ghajini’ was sold out for Rs. 93Crores before 6 months of film’s release. Perhaps, the film releasing on December 25, witnessed a storming record break. A collection made through advance booking for the first day itself was Rs. 35Crores.

Shah Rukh’s ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ that was released on December 12 didn’t even make half the collections. It was merely around Rs. 10Crores on the first day that really disappointed Yash Raj Films. With the versions of Tamil-later-dubbed-into-Telugu ‘Ghajini’ with the same title was a blockbuster, expectations surmounted across the Southern Regions. Also Aamir’s stunning eight physiques transfixed everyone one other than young lads and missies. A.R. Rahman’s splendiferous musical score was the other reasons for publicizing film to international standards.
