Nayan's Judegement Day fixed
December 25th, 2008
Nayanthara's appeal to the Nadigar Sangham came out in her favour. Now, it looks like the adjudication to take place on the 30th of this month (filed by Linguswamy) by the Producer's council will also come out in her favour. It will be recalled that the actress filed a complaint against the producer and director. In her complaint, Nayan stated that she waited for Payya to hit the floors for three months after being paid an advance of Rs. 15 lakhs.
Payya failed to commence as its male lead Karthi was held up with his project Aayirathil Oruvan. In Nayan's complaint to the Nadigar Sangam, she had stated that she was blackmailed by the producers that the film's shooting would commence only if she agrees to reduce her salary. The actress said that she wasted three months of time waiting for the film to commence and she would return the advance amount only if she is duly compensated.
Now even the Producer's council is likely to rule in favour of Nayan since many call sheets of actors are wasted by producers and directors who book them and block them in the peak season. The actors say no to other projects, to find out in the end that the project they signed for will be very delayed or cancelled. If the producer then asks for the advance back –though it is no fault of the actor-what then happens to the time the actor sacrificed for the project?
